Laboratories take important and distinguish spot in scientific studies and they occupy great attention and unique peculiarity at the University of Technology and lab of chemistry  which is considered  amongst other departmental laboratories uses  from the 1st year  students  to  perform different experiments in analytical and organic chemistry and at this lab the students taught how to use different glassware that used to prepare solutions, determine  their  concentrations  which  consists  of  different sizes  of  glassware,  beakers  in  different  types  and size. Also, the lab equipped with different instruments and apparatuses for measuring and preparation, in addition to furnaces, electronic balances, electric heaters, mixers  and  distils  water  apparatus.  The  lab  is furnished  with  hood cabinets.

 The  chemical  Engineering department since his start urged his academic staff to keep on with the scientific and technological  development in  laboratories fields so that the department grant the compliance of his laboratories to standard requirements of laboratories at well known universities.

This lab is considered amongst the labs that belongs to the Gas and Oil Refinery Engineering Branch.

Lab.Experiments

This lab concerns with determination the properties of crude oil and   petroleum  products  according  to the  international  standard specifications  which  can  be  carried  out  to  the  determination  of complete  evaluation to specific extent that gives a good estimation of the crude oil specifications  and its products, add the study of specifications from burning of LPG and LPL and the distillation of crude oil using distillation column under atmospheric and vacuum pressure.

This lab’s utilities are designed to be used by 2nd and 4th year students of Gas and Oil Refinery engineering branch.

Lab.Experiments

This lab deals with the momentum, thermal and physical properties for liquid and solid chemicals and to diagnosis the unknown materials. The physical chemistry

lab’s experiments include experiments related with thermodynamic, reaction kinetics and study the physical properties for chemicals such as viscosity, density,

surface tension,….etc. This lab is used by 2nd year students according to syllabus and in projects of 4th year student.

Lab.Experiments

This lab contains typical laboratory instruments that related to fluid mechanics  and consists  of  instrument  for  measuring ,  flow rate friction, pumps and compressors such as venturi meter, measuring friction factor in pipes, and instruments for measuring the flow rate such as smoke tunnel, and transport equipments such as pumps and compressors. This lab is designed to be used by 2nd year students.

Lab.Experiments

This lab contains necessary instruments to measure the properties of raw materials and products in the field of plastic, rubber and ceramic such as testing the ductility, strength and hardness and testing the environmental impacts on materials. The lab is specifically used in final year projects.

Lab.Experiments

In this lab experiments on specific chemical industrial processes are carried out are set out such  as, oxidation,  thermal  cracking,  polymerization  and roduction of  detergents, veg oils  and water  treatments. The student will study the variables and conditions of chemical industrial process and follow up the stages of process. This lab is designed to be occupied by 4th year students of industrial processes engineering branch.

The department contains laboratories of computers available to be used by undergraduate students, projects of 4th year, statistics and for postgraduate students. Those laboratories contain updated desktops (Pentium 4) and their accessories

which are as follows:

Laboratory of programming.

-Matlab and visual basic laboratory for1st and 2nd class undergraduate.

Laboratory of statistics.

-(Hysis and Statistical) Laboratory for 2nd and 3rd class.

Laboratory of projects.

Laboratory of numerical analyses.

-Numerical Analysis laboratory for postgraduate student and 2nd undergraduate students.

 

This lab contains instruments on mass, phenomena and heat transfer applications and also include many typical and tested instruments at half-plant sizes of many equipment and units in chemical engineering, such as different  types  of  distillation units, liquid and solid extraction units, absorption units, and heat transfer units such as different types of heat exchangers and heat and mass transfer equipment’s such as spray dryer, refrigeration  column, …etc.  this  lab  is  extended  over  384 m2 and  is specifically used by 4th year students of industrial processes engineering branch and 3rd year students of both branches.

All industrial processes acquires to automatic control systems by which we  are  able to  control  and vary  process’s  variables such as feed rate, concentration, temperature, and pressure and to be able to design any control  system one must study the dynamic behavior of the industrial process itself to understand the influential of the sudden impacts on the variables under control. In this lab some experiments will be carried out that related to experimenting the dynamic behavior of 1st and 2nd degree systems and other experiments that elucidate the different types of control and their behavior against some variables and their effects on industrial process. 

    This  lab uses from  4th year  students  of both  branches where  many experiments were set out to study flow of heat, mass and fluid processes and ways to control the temperature, concentration, fluid flow, pH values, and thermal conductivities

Objectives of the Environmental Pollution Measurement Laboratory

The practical side of application is one of the important aspects in the implementation of an educational plan aimed at  building the .specialized scientific personality that we desperately need at this time. Where everyone competes to obtain knowledge and benefit from it in preparing specialized and  qualified scientific cadres that  contribute to supporting the  scientific process in our  coun   

In this context, the Laboratory for Pollution Measurements seeks to give a brief overview of the laboratory work that pertains to the Chemical Engineering and Environmental Pollution Branch. It includes a theoretical introduction to the scientific characterization techniques for environmental pollution tests along with methods of measurement and comparison of laboratory results with national. And international specifications.
