On the occasion of National Tree Planting Day, the Department of Chemical Engineering holds a workshop on sustainability and environmental conservation.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Noori Hamzah, and under the supervision of the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department, Prof. Dr. Khalid Ajami Sukkar, the Process Engineering Branch in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Technology held a workshop entitled “Sustainability and Environmental Conservation” on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
The workshop included a scientific lecture by Prof. Dr. Thamer Jassem Muhammad. He presented a detailed presentation on the concept of sustainability, its historical development, and forms of pollution, including environmental and industrial pollution, as well as the mismanagement of natural resources. The workshop also addressed the importance of maintaining balance and interconnectedness among environmental elements to achieve a better life, free from crises and disasters. This, in turn, requires enhancing environmental, economic, and social awareness. It also addresses finding the necessary solutions to preserve the sustainability of life through environmental protection, land reclamation, the establishment of nature reserves, and the protection of groundwater. At the end of the workshop, the lecturer was honored with a certificate of appreciation from the Head of the Chemical Engineering Department in recognition of his role in delivering the lecture.
